Here is an example of a cut out collage style animation I created for the band "Liquid Pennies." They gave me the track and full creative control over the visuals.
Since the song is about the changing of tides I knew I wanted to create something fluid, energetic, and focus on using vintage water sports as the aesthetic.
I started by taking clips of waves breaking and rotoscoping them from their backgrounds. I ramped up the contrast and dropped the saturation so that they would mesh well with the vintage photographs I would be adding next.
Then I started my search for vintage photographs of people enjoying water sports. Using photoshop I isolated the characters from their backgrounds and their limbs from their bodies so that I could then bring them to life, animating them in After Effects.
This is an example of an animation I was able to turn around very quickly. The client needed a "not so rough" cut within 3 days.
I was able to use animated elements from motion array to quickly create this vibrant 60 sec spot without having to waste time on storyboards.
This is an example of a text-heavy animation I created for Geneva. The client wanted a video without voice over. So it was my goal to make the text engaging while also readable.
